Would somebody please update me re the current state of the Spotted Dog in Upton Lane. Is it still lying unheated and deteriorating or has the council actually removed digit and done something?  Dave Twitchett

This subject has been posted on here many times over the years that I've been on here and the old site , Ive tried to campaign about releasing the true figures of deaths , but the authorities are sticking with the 70 odd released , but we " the relatives of lost loved ones " know there was amassive cover up over this , a possible reason I have read was so soon after Dunkirk , Churchill thought it bad for morale and a boost for German propaganda ,if the true figure were released .

All the best Ed

Essex girl ,
Stadium was good but then was still transforming it into the Hammers new home . As one of the ol timers still miss the Boleyn and the atmosphere , always will , but also the dirty smelly Dock area with many happy memories ,can't go back so got to lump it .My old stomping ground now full of strangers so like to think we had the best of times down there ,so same go's for the Boleyn haven't yet seen it all pulled down , but now live about 70 miles north of stadium so and have to make good with Sky t.v for watching the " boys " .

 All the best Ed

Welcome back EssexGirl.

On the point of previous posters returning to the board. It could well be that as yet many are still unware that the board was reinstated. I think I might have been by chance the first person to have found out the board was operational again. As there was no way I could email previous subscribers as email addresses are not shown, I chose a past subject that many had contributed to, (High Street North), and guessed that the auto email notification system might be working too. I made an announcement there about the board reopening hoping that previous subscriber would get messages which numbers of them did.

It does seem to me that one way of spreading news that this board has risen like the Phoenix from the flame, is to contribute to past topics and hopefully many more will get automated messages about the board.

Hi Harry, I gathered from Essexgirls reply to Ron that she was a previous poster, but I had not seen her name for a while.
It seems many of the earlier posters are reluctant to start posting again; shame.

Hi Ken I believe that Essex Girl is a previous poster .I have noticed on this forum that by reading between the lines you can get a good idea where people live through their messages. Mick I think lives in the Weymouth area yourself Bournmouth Christchurch area me from Thundersley in Essex on the forums there have been posters from America(Limey) Bill Sharpe Florida postings from Australia.
Looking back on the old postings you can find which school people went to what they did for a living where they were born where they served in the services as you can see there is guite a lot of info on the forums.
Regards Harry .I

Hi MickG, If the jerries best view was as  clear as your photo of the Dornier bombers over Custom Hse, it would have made identifying Hallsville school almost impossible. Blanket bombing would have permitted them to hit & run before our air defences were deployed.
I believe Hallsville school disaster was a direct hit from a mine, would a bomb have created such a loss of life?

Anyone who hasn't yet done their DNA test and is looking for relatives, just to show it works, I have found my Cousin Arthur Timothy - he came up as a DNA match as a 2nd Cousin!
If you want to do it through Ancestry wait for the special offers. I saved £20 but sometimes it goes as low as £59. Be warned though, the postage is extra and not cheap.
